Story: King Kong's sons

Once upon a time in a jungle far far away lived a monkey named King Kong who was the strongest and most powerful monkey in the jungle kingdom. King Kong lived his life in servitude by leading his tribe to glory and happiness. One day King Kong began to notice that his wife was bringing him a lot of joy, however, King Kong believed that it was selfish for him to experience any type of joy or pleasure for all of that should be reserved for his tribe. With this in mind, King Kong decided to ban his wife from the tribe forever. King Kong's wife Blitz was heartbroken and ran off to the deep dark jungle to find a place to stay. While in the deep dark jungle Blitz ran into a family of wild hogs and asked if she could stay with them for a while. While staying with the hogs Blitz found out she was pregnant and gave birth to two twin monkeys named Ralph and Albert and called them the Ape brothers. While growing up the Ape brothers learned about stories of the great King Kong but no one ever told them that they were his sons. Meanwhile one day back in King Kong's village, King Kong notices that some of the bananas from the food storage have been stolen. King Kong becomes upset and sends three of his soldiers to go look for the thieves who stole his bananas. The next day comes along and King Kong is awakened with the sight of three dead soldiers and more of his banana's stolen. Now King Kong is furious so he decides to send half of his whole army to go and look for the thieves who stole the bananas. The next day King Kong is again awoken by the sight of half of his army wiped and now all the bananas in the storage are gone. King Kong is so furious he decides to go into the deep dark jungle to look for the thieves himself. After a couple hours of walking King Kong runs into a pair of monkeys sitting on an enormous pile of bananas. King Kong grabs both of the monkeys by the necks and as soon as he's about to kill them he looks up and sees his old wife Blitz. King Kong finally understands what's going on and puts his two sons down Ralph and Albert and begins to break down into tears. King Kong begs Blitz and his sons to come back but they reject and disappear back into the deep dark forest. King Kong feels emptiness and sadness not because he lost all of his bananas but because he lost the love of his life. King Kong spent the rest of his life regretting the decision he kicked his wife out of the kingdom because she was the only thing that brought him joy. His kingdom slowly fell apart until it was practically nothing. As King Kong was deteriorating not only mentally but also physically he looked up one more time at the gates of his fallen kingdom and saw two strong Apes walk in.

Authors Note: The story I wrote is based around the Indian Folk Tale "The sons of Rama". The story takes place as Rama is now the ruler of his kingdom and bans his wife from the kingdom so she goes off and gives birth to Rama's Twins. I decided to replace the actual human characters from the story and use monkeys instead. I did this because I want to keep animals as a common theme in my stories. The last story I wrote was about lions and my next story I will probably use a different type of animal. In the original story, Rama has a horse ritual and Rama's son takes the horse so Rama sends people after them to look for the horse. In my story, The horse is replaced with bananas because they are monkeys (obviously). I left out a few characters from the original story to make things more simple and keeping it about only 4 characters.  So to make things clear King Kong is supposed to be Rama, The Ape twins Ralph and Albert are supposed to be Rama's sons, Blitz is Sita and the hogs are the family that took Sita in when Rama banished her.

  1. Hey Carver,

I like how you changed up the story. When I was reading the original, I was frustrated with Rama. I didn't think he deserved to keep his family after being such a jerk. I'm glad that in this story, King Kong lost his family! Maybe he learned his lesson. Also, for some reason, during this story I was picturing Donkey Kong. I honestly don't know why, but your picture made me realize who the main character was lol.
    Thanks for the story!

  2. Hey Carver,
I wasn't sure where this story was going at first but I really enjoyed the addition of the character King Kong. Seeing Rama's actions from that of a beast like King Kong helped me to realize that Rama was pretty much a jerk, even if he thought he was doing the right thing for the good of the kingdom. I laughed at the part about the empty banana storage--it's funny to picture King Kong getting super mad over some bananas! But hey, he's still a monkey.

Introduction to Carver's life

Hi, I'm Carver Ramey and I am currently a junior here at OU. My major is Finance and I would say the coolest part of my major is I got to go study abroad last summer and take a finance and accounting class. The best class I took last semester would be Philosophy because I was able to work ahead and complete the course two weeks before it was due. After I graduate from OU I want to go to work somewhere in the real estate field. This summer I have an internship at a commercial real estate firm in Dallas which I am very excited about. If for some reason I don't enjoy real estate I will probably try and go to law school after graduating from OU. My favorite hobby of mine is skiing. I usually go skiing once or twice a year and I have been doing that for the past 15 years whether it's with my parents or a group of friends. To make sure I keep this streak up every summer I work and save up so I can afford to go. This winter break I went to Crested Butte with a couple of my friend

"Favorite Place"

My favorite place to go in the world is anywhere that I can ski. Skiing has been my favorite thing to do since I was 6  years old and I try and go every year. There is no specific place on this earth that I call "My Favorite Place" but anywhere with snow that I can ski on is my favorite place.                                                                                     Photo of person skiing on snowfield
